Hi Team Stony Tennis,

What an incredible start to the summer! Week 1 of the Team Stony Tennis Summer Camp was a massive success, and the courts were buzzing with energy all week long.

We were thrilled to welcome 150 children over five days. From complete beginners picking up a racket for the first time to seasoned players who play weekly, our coaches and assistants had a blast helping everyone develop and sharpen their tennis skills.

How the Days LookedTo make sure every single player got the absolute most out of their time with us, the camp was split into age and ability groups. We followed our popular daily rhythm designed to keep energy levels high and smiles broad:
  • Morning: Two focused tennis sessions with an engaging multi-activity dynamic in the middle to mix things up.
  • Afternoon: A repeat of the fun with new tennis drills and multi-sports action!
While skill-building is at the heart of what we do, as always, it’s the new friendships, laughter, and fun that truly brought the camp to life.

 The Friday Grand Slam Showdown

This year, we introduced a brand-new tradition: the Friday Grand Slam Showdown! It was the ultimate wrap-up to a wonderful week. Players split into teams, competed in fun challenges, earned points, and put everything they learned into practice while building fantastic team spirit.

Here are the final standings for Week 1:

A huge congratulations to Team Aussie for taking home the crown!

Stars of the Week:

5 Weeks Left – Secure Your Spot!

The best part? We still have 5 more weeks of summer camps to go!

If your child wants to improve their game, make new friends, and take on the Grand Slam Showdown, we’d love to have them join us.

Hi Team Stony Tennis,

It was fantastic to see such an excellent turnout at our Starter Tennis Tournament on Sunday 12th July — a truly brilliant day for everyone involved.

Our 8&U and 10&U events were packed with enthusiasm, determination, and some impressive tennis. A total of 8 young players took to the courts, showcasing strong rallies, great teamwork, and a wonderful spirit of sportsmanship from start to finish. The round-robin format proved to be a real success, giving every participant plenty of match play and the opportunity to put their coaching into practice.

Congratulations to our winners:

8&U Champions
Winner: Elliot | Runner-up: William

10&U Champions
Winner: Felix | Runner-up: Nathan

A huge well done to all of our players for making the event such an enjoyable and exciting occasion. The confidence, focus, and positive attitude shown throughout the day were fantastic to see.
I’d also like to extend a big thank you to Coach Toby and Jan for running the event so smoothly, and to all the parents for your continued support on the day — your encouragement really does make a difference.

Our new competition format of timed matches with a “score as many points as possible” approach received excellent feedback. It helped players stay engaged, think tactically, and keep rallies flowing. We’ll continue to build on this structure to ensure our competitions remain fun, dynamic, and development-focused.

Stay Tuned for new dates.  We’ll also be introducing new challenges and match-play opportunities designed to help players grow in confidence, learn match etiquette, and apply their training in a friendly competitive environment.

We look forward to seeing many of you at the next event!

Happy tennising!

"The best day ever!" A magical trip to Wimbledon

7/13/2026

Hi Team Stony Tennis,

There is a saying that tennis goes way beyond the court, that the friendships, experiences, and adventures it brings can shape a lifetime. Yesterday, we got to see that magic happen in real time.
With the wonderful help of Coach Shruthi, I had the absolute privilege of taking three of our junior club members to Wimbledon. None of them had ever been before, and to say the excitement was through the roof would be an understatement!

We managed to pack a lifetime of memories into a single, sun-soaked day. Here are a few of the highlights from our grand tour:
  • Walk in the Footsteps of Giants: We explored the entire grounds, from a tour around Centre Court and Court 1 to sitting on the historical Court 18—the exact spot where John Isner defeated Nicolas Mahut in the longest tennis match in history.
  • The Fun Zone: The kids got to test their own skills and burn off some energy playing the interactive games.
  • Henman Hill Atmosphere: We soaked up the iconic hill vibes while cheering on Britain's own Arthur Fery as he defeated Flávio Cobolli in straight sets.
The absolute standout moment of the day came down to a 15-year friendship. I’ve known the coach of world-class doubles star Gabriela Dabrowski for a decade and a half. Thanks to that connection, we got to meet Gabby (the world No. 3 ladies' doubles player) and her partner Luisa Stefani, who are the second seeds this year!

Even better? Her coach invited our group to become their official "support crew" for their match on Court 2. We cheered them on loud and proud, and they won in spectacular style!
"This was the best day ever." — One of our junior members on the way home.

Hearing those words made the whole trip. These kids will remember this day for the rest of their lives, and I feel incredibly privileged to be able to provide them with this experience. Our goal at the club isn't just to teach proper forehands and backhands; it's to inspire the next generation and show them where this beautiful sport can take them.

Thank you to Coach Shruthi, to our incredible juniors for being such fantastic ambassadors for our club, and to all of you for being part of a community that makes journeys like this possible.

Happy tennising!

Hi Team Stony Tennis,

I just wanted to share what a fantastic morning we had last Sunday at Stony Stratford Tennis Club as we hosted the Bucks 8&U Division 1 event.

It was brilliant to welcome 16 young players from Halton TC, Milton Keynes TC, and our two Stony Stratford teams. Over the course of just two hours, the players completed an incredible 48 matches, and the standard of tennis, effort, and sportsmanship was outstanding throughout.
Picture
For several of the children, this was their very first competitive event, which made it even more special to see their confidence grow with every match. Whether they won or lost, every player should be incredibly proud of how they represented their club

Congratulations to Halton TC, who finished as tournament champions. Our Stony Stratford A team secured a fantastic second place, with our B team finishing third, while Milton Keynes TC battled hard throughout to finish fourth.

I'd also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make the morning such a success. Special thanks go to Antonio, Katie, Jan, Sofia and Sofia for their fantastic support in keeping the event running smoothly. Events like this simply couldn't happen without assistants giving up their time.

Finally, thank you to all the parents, coaches and supporters who came along. Your encouragement from the sidelines created such a positive atmosphere and made the day even more enjoyable for every player.

It was a pleasure to see so many smiling faces on court, and we're already looking forward to hosting more events like this in the future.

Thank you for being part of such a wonderful tennis community.

Happy tennising!

From Stony Stratford to Division 2 Tennis – Emily Marshall Signs with West Virginia Wesleyan College

6/23/2026

Hi Team Stony Tennis,

I am delighted to share some truly special news from Team Stony Tennis.

Emily Marshall has officially signed a Division 2 Tennis Scholarship with West Virginia Wesleyan College in the United States!

This is a proud moment not only for Emily and her family but for our entire Stony Stratford Tennis Club community.

What makes this achievement particularly meaningful is that Emily's journey started right here at our club. She first picked up a racket at just 3 years old, and over the years has progressed through every stage of our programme through hard work, commitment, resilience, and an unwavering love for the game.

Picture
As a coach, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a player you've worked with from their very first steps on court achieve an opportunity of this magnitude.

Many young players dream of becoming professional tennis players, but the reality is that only a very small percentage of players earn a living from competing on the professional tour.

That is why the US College Tennis pathway is such an incredible opportunity.

  • World-Class Education
Emily's tennis has helped her secure a highly subsidised university education, providing an outstanding foundation for her future career.
  • Elite Athlete Environment
She will train daily in world-class facilities, compete against top players, and travel across the United States representing her university.
  • A Future Full of Options
Whether she chooses to pursue professional tennis after university or follow another career path, she will graduate with both a degree and invaluable life experience.
A Pathway Available to Our Players

One of the most exciting aspects of Emily's story is that it demonstrates what is possible through dedication and long-term development.

At Team Stony Tennis, we have built a programme designed to support players from their first swing of a racket all the way through to performance tennis, county representation, national competition, and international opportunities such as US College Scholarships.

Emily's achievement is proof that these opportunities are within reach for committed young players who are willing to work hard and embrace the journey.

Congratulations Emily!

Emily, we are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved.
Your dedication, professionalism, and perseverance have been an inspiration to younger players throughout the programme, and we have no doubt that you will thrive at West Virginia Wesleyan College.

The entire Team Stony Tennis and Stony Stratford Tennis Club community will be cheering you on from across the Atlantic.

Congratulations and best of luck on this exciting new chapter!

Happy tennising!

Team Stony Tennis Stars Shine as Bucks Secure Silver at 8&U Inter-County Regionals

6/22/2026

Hi Team Stony Tennis,

It was a weekend to remember for Team Stony Tennis as two of our standout young players, Mia and Annia, put on a brilliant display of skill, grit, and teamwork to help Buckinghamshire secure a fantastic Silver medal at the 8&U Inter-County Regional competition. Facing off against some of the best young talent in the region, the girls proved they belong at the very top.
Picture
The tournament kicked off with a fast-paced group stage, where Bucks made an immediate statement. They opened with a dominant 5–1 victory over Cambridgeshire before carrying that momentum into their second match, defeating a tough Essex side 4–2. While they stumbled slightly against Northamptonshire in a hard-fought 4–2 loss, their strong overall performance safely booked their ticket to the knockout rounds.

From there, the drama only intensified. The semi-final against Hertfordshire was an absolute nail-biter, ending in a tense 3–3 deadlock. With a spot in the final on the line, the decision went down to a points count-back, which Bucks dramatically clinched by just 8 points.

The final against Berkshire proved to be an equally epic battle. History repeated itself as the teams fought to another breathtaking 3–3 tie. It came down to the absolute wire, but unfortunately, luck wasn't on Bucks' side this time, narrowly missing out on the Gold medal by a microscopic 9-point count-back.

As coach, I am incredibly proud of both Mia and Annia. Watching their rapid improvement week in and week out is an absolute joy, and earning the opportunity to represent Bucks against the region's elite is a testament to their hard work. Taking home a regional Silver medal is a massive achievement, and this is just the beginning—there is undoubtedly lots more to come from these two over the years.

Please join everyone at Team Stony Tennis in giving Mia and Annia a huge congratulations for making us all so proud!

Happy tennising!
